Niepubliczne Gimnazjum przy I LO im. Ks. A.J. Czartoryskiego w Pulawach
The Non-public Gimnazjum by Prince Adam Jerzy Czartoryski High School in Puławy is a lower-secondary school existing since 2009. It was established as a result of great efforts made by a group of teachers and former-students of the High School, members of The Society of Alumni of the Gimnazjum and Adam Jerzy Czartoryski High School, who had decided to create a school that would benefit from the best traditions and values of the rich and meritious history of the High School. Their idea was to educate and teach the future High School students by enabling the continued time of education in one place, at the same building and with the same teachers. The creators of the school believed that such approch would prepare the students for more intensive work to develop their talents and skills. Our Gimnazjum has been a leading school since the very beginning and although the candidates have to take entrance exams, it is full-occupied each year. Currently we have 271 students aged 13-16 and 30 teachers. The building is big, housing 39 classrooms, mostly well-equipped into multimedia and with Internet access, 2 gyms and an exercise room. The outside sports complex consists of 2 football pitches and a multifunctional pitch for different games and sports. The school provides also dental and doctor's surgeries. Our boarding house is fully occupied because of its great opinion, although some dormitories may need some renovation. The teachers and tutors working in the dormitory care both about security and proper education of their students. The parents show their great trust and support all activities to provide the best care and education. The school has got a monitoring system, an electronic diary, multifunctional chip cards and a quality management system PN-EN ISO 9001:2009.
The general curriculum in our school is extended at some profiles that students can choose from. They are: general, mathematics and English language. Besides, as the second language, students can choose German or Spanish. Spanish has appeared to be a really asset of our school, being a novelty in lower-secondary level. Our students have been interested in taking part in different contests including culture of Spanish-speaking countries, film and art, music and dance, resulting with many successes.
The vocal group The Voices, existing since 2012, has became well-known in our region, performing and gaining many prizes on different festivals. The members also took part in a trip for international workshops in London and Paris last year and they periodically take part in jazz and gospel ones in Puławy.
Our students are active in fields of sports, art and culture, as well as knowledge contests. The teachers pay great attention on talented students and enable them the chance to develop their skills during extra school clubs. The result is that we have got prize-winners in all contests we take part in.
Our school has succesfully completed the Comenius project "Are you a CO2nsumer?". The project finished in 2012 and it was a great experience both for students, teachers and for local community. The participants came with many initiatives and fulfilled their ideas, but first of all, they gained new knowledge, improved their language skills and developped social competences. They established new links with their peers from Spain and Belgium, presented their own country and local envinronment to the visitors and could get to know the way of life in partners' countries. It was so important because they could experience the real life situations, language and culture challenges, that can't be learnt from the coursebook. We thus believe, that giving our students the chance to face their skills, ideas and thoughts with reality, is a must.

KORFEZ FEN LISESI (Turkey)
Korfez Fen Lisesi is a science high school in Körfez/KOCAELİ, near İstanbul - 2010 European capital city of culture. It was founded in 2014. Kocaeli's population is over 1.500.000 and it is well-known for its Gulf. The city of Kocaeli is mainly an industrial center with numerous industrial establishments surrounding the Gulf. The school is so close to the city center and all international ,national highways.
It was a Teacher Training High School between the years 2009-2014. However, in 2014 the teacher training high schools in Turkey were closed. Since our school was the most successful school in its district, it turned into a science high school. There are about 600 students who study in this school whose ages are between 14-18. The students have to take a national exam and get the required score to study in science high schools. So, our students are among the best students in the country. There are about 40 teachers who work in the school. All the teachers are really helpful, competent and active in the school. The school has a fund for the students who have financial problems , teachers in the school try to help them live in better conditions and give some of them pocket money every month or buy some clothes to those who are in need. The goal is to help them forget their bad conditions. Therefore, teachers try to adjoin them to the different activities such as projects ; sports, composition, art and knowledge competitions etc.
The school subjects are mostly based on Maths and Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology). Besides these, the students also learn English, German, Turkish Literature and Grammar, History and Geography. English and German are taught as foreign languages in the school. Although students in Turkey start learning English in 2nd class in primary school, they are unable to acquire the language. Our aim is to help these students gain real communication skills through this project. Thus, the English teachers in the school are opposed to the classical English Language Teaching (ELT) system which students only memorise the grammar rules. If everything goes well, teachers will perform their best to renew Turkish ELT methodology. The educative staff feel very sensitive about finding out what type of methods and materials other European countries use while teaching English and they are very open minded in showing and receiving the best outcome from all kind of experiences related with this project.
More students rather than teachers will be preferred because most of the students can not afford going abroad with their own budget as their families' income levels are low (they are the children of separated families or crowded families). They deserve this opportunity and via Erasmus+ Programmes, they will have the chance to broaden their knowledge of the world and learn different cultural values. So far, we have participated in a Comenius School Partnership as the coordinator of the project in 2011 and an Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership as a partner in 2015. We have lots of talented students at our school so in this respect, our dream is to be able to enable them the opportunity to join different European Projects. With one project, it is only possible to involve10 students in mobilities but if we have more projects, we can grasp the chance to add them to numerous mobilities. Thanks to these projects, we are sure that our dreams will come true.
Our school not only gives the students the education they need for meeting all their needs to adapt to the modern life but also encourages them to develop themselves as qualified individuals for their future. The school also trains students to prepare for the university entrance exam.
Related to the fact that Turkey is a candidate member of the European Union, the school would like to participate in European cooperation in order to enrich its knowledge about the cultures, languages, traditions and history of the European countries.
We also want to learn about all the diversities among the partners. With the involvement of the students and staff in such a cooperation, we believe we may contribute and develop the level of education.

1st Lyceum of Perama (Greece)
The 1st Lyceum of Perama, has been involved as a partner in the Erasmus+ project "Bridges". Our school is located in Perama, a suburb of Piraeus, where there is high unemployment. Our school has 23 teachers and 220 pupils aged 15-18 years old. After three years studies at the Lyceum, students take national level exams, in order to succeed an entrance to a University. Except for the lessons that last from 08:15 till 14:15 , we also present activities that are worked out either in the afternoon or during the weekends.
So,our "Rockemon" band , prepares a special musical project each year and plays rock and pop songs at school fests but also wherever invited to play. The last performance of the year follows the end of the final exams and is given in the evening, open to all students and the public.
Our editorial team each year, prepare a magazine where all students can write freely their thoughts, ideas or interviews given by important people etc. We also edit another magazine of a smaller size the “literary estia” (literary fireplace), focusing on poems or short stories written by the students. Some of the poems are heard in a local literary presentation held in town each year.
Another team prepares and conserves the site of the school http://1lyk-peram.att.sch.gr . Of course our school takes part in the regional school-championship either in team or individual sports.
In the end, I'd like to present the theatre team. We start working on a play agreed by all, in October. All rehearsals take place in the afternoons or during weekends. We usually present our work in two performances, in May, open to the public, at the school theatre. This year, we work on a play “La Nona” by Roberto Cossa. It is a black comedy referring to the results of an economic crisis.
Recently , an activity referring to the refugees problem was added to our calendar. It was an artistic project that included photo galleries, video and artistic intervention on the school premises and finally ended with a concert with the school band “Rockemon” and famous musicians in Greece as guests. The aim of the project was to sensitize students , their families and the public on the refugees’ problem and gather clothes and food for the refugees. The project was supported by the local authorities and the teachers’ trade union. Its success exceeded our expectations as all secondary schools of our town visited our school to watch the project and a great amount of clothes and food was gathered for the refugees.
All these works can be used and extended to the Erasmus+ project as a “Bridge” to bring students and the societies they live in closer, know the cultures of different countries and overcome obstacles derived from cultural, religious and any other differences. We think that music, theatre, literature and the English language used as a catalyst, can be a “Bridge” to promote friendship, solidarity, humanism and multiculturalism among our students and the societies they grow up in.

Istituto Istruzione Secondaria Superiore "Rosa Luxemburg"- Acquaviva delle Fonti(italy)
I.I.S.S. “Rosa Luxemburg” is a public secondary school of 5 years which welcomes students aged fourteen to nineteen. The school has three different fields of study:
Artistic Gymnasium, Two Vocational schools: Commercial services – commercial promotion and advertising; Social and health care service ; Agrarian technical school.
There are about 750 students and 90 teachers. There are, also, some handicap students and they are helped by support teachers.
It is a public school that works in an area in which the living, social, cultural, economical and environmental conditions, are influenced by unemployment, immigration, insufficient sensibility towards ours and other cultures, economic difficulties caused by economic crisis
In this context many young people show insufficient interest towards learning, they do not study, they are not motivated in learning, they do not travel, they do not read; this produce a school dropout. The I.I.S.S. “R. Luxemburg”, in order to prevent and to contrast the school failure and to help the students with disadvantaged situations, realizes curricular and extracurricular activities that offer to the students the learning opportunity and the professional training.
The partnership can improve students’ motivation, encourage them to study and learn, to promote the acquisition of transversal and professional skills in order to guide their educational future and professional choices and help achieve a personal development.
The partnership with European schools is important to give students and staff a European dimension to the educational process, to exchange experiences, solutions, didactic methods and best practices. The partnership will help students to understand cultural diversity. It will contribute to overcome stereotypes and to fight discrimination by working together.

I.E.S. "La Escribana"-Villaviciosa de Córdoba(spain)
"La Escribana" is a secondary school located in the southern Spain. It has a bilingual programme in some specific subjects such as Music , Social Sciences, Citizenship Education, Art and Natural Sciences in order to improve the students' linguistic skills.
The school is small and comprises 7 or 8 groups and 150 students approximately. They are from 11 to 15 years old. Around nineteen teachers work in it. The students live in an isolated rural area.
The majority of them live near the school. However, some of them live in the countryside. When they finish secondary education in our school, they can't continue their studies in our village. So, they have to live in the capital or in other villages. Due to the fact that they live in a rural area and they have to move to continue their education, there is often little motivation. Very few of them have any desire to study nor do they aspire to finding a future beyond the borders of the peninsula (i.e., any other European country) let alone outside the village itself. For that reason, a significant number of students never finish their secondary education. This is related to the fact that the students are not interested in learning a second language spoken in a European country. All of this makes it essential that the school can participate in these programmes to make L2 use and acquisition more attractive and viable and see the advantages of meeting people from other European countries. Unfortunately, our students do not have a good level of English when they start secondary school because they are not used to working hard in the English subject. For this reason, we try to motivate them and make them aware of the importance of this language as a tool for communication with people from other countries. Being involved in Erasmus+ programmes is an excellent way to get it.
La Escribana has played an important role in the village and its youngsters' education. As we said before, there is a need to make students aware of the importance of continuing their education in other places. For this reason, the school has worked hard to participate in projects that let them be in contact with students from other villages, cities or even European countries. One example is the programme called "Intercentros". Thanks to it, our school and another one from Seville are doing some things together during the school year. They include visits to these schools or other places to do some activities. When the students from Seville came to our school, they took part in the Cultural Week which had to do with traditions in our village. Some of our students hosted their mates from the visiting school. The results are very satisfying. Our school has also worked with other institutions in a number of projects. There are several competitions organised by " La Escribana". One of them consists in creating a short film about drugs addiction. The number of participants has increased in the last years and it is an international competition. So, students from other countries can participate as well. Another competition is called "Paisaje". It has also played an important role in our school. In this one, students and teachers have to send photographs in which the landscape is the protagonist. The topic of the competition changes every year. On the other hand, our secondary school participated in a Comenius Multilateral Partnership from 2011 to 2013 and the results were excellent. That helped the students be interested not only in learning a second language, but also in other countries outside Spain, especially in the European continent. In 2012, our partners in the project and some of their students came to Spain to develop the project together. The visit took place in spring for five days. We planned carefully the progamme, which combined working sessions (workshops, presentations and so on) and cultural and social activities. Our students could host our partners' pupils and they learnt a lot from each other. Thanks to these results, we really need and want to be part of another project with other schools in Europe. So, we have attended seminars about the new programme "Erasmus+" to be part in one motivating project.
In our school, the teachers who will work on the project are highly-motivated seasoned professionals who are keen on improving their teaching skills and have demonstrated in their commitment to students, especially through their effective use of teaching. We think that this kind of associations between different European countries allow us to achieve this goal. As far as the project is concerned, we will participate in its preparation actively, sharing ideas with our partners and contributing to enrich it from our point of view. We will try to help with practical and innovative ideas that can improve the methodology in all the schools involved. We will also organize the visit to Spain, sending specific information to the other countries in advance. The financial resources will be used

Students studying economic and information services train to establish various kinds of enterprises with a business plan and find out the results of the business. They manufacture some small products and try to sell them. This activity helps them learn how to succeed in the market.
Our school educates also a number of students having physical disabilities or specific learning disorders like dysgraphia and dyslexia. To extend the educational influence we provide our students with interaction through communication media, by cooperating with local newspaper and local television, as well as with culture institution - Vlastivedne museum. Together we often cooperate while organizing exhibitions, lectures, celebrations like May Day.
Thanks to this project we will offer our students a bigger chance to use their language skills and to exchange their observations and their thoughts with other European students their age. We strongly believe, that meetings, as the most valuable aspect of the project will change their minds and make them more focused on their identity, self-awareness and motivation to learn foreign languages.
