19th November-Sunday Arrival at Bari Airport, transfer to Acquaviva delle Fonti and accomodation in B&Bs. Students will be picked up in the airport by the host families. 20th November-Monday 9:00 a.m. Arrival at school. Welcome speech by the Headmaster and visit of the school facilities. 10:00 a.m. Each country will present a search in English concerning three main exponents of the Italian literature , three main artists of the Italian Art and about the Italian Geography with reference to its regions and chief towns. Each partner will have 15 minutes to present its own work. Works have to be submitted in word or power point and / or video form. 11:30 a.m. Coffee break. 12:00 a.m. Workshop activities: all the pupils, divided into groups, will take part in an educational game about the Italian geography. 01:30 p.m. Lunch at school. 03:00 p.m. Presentation of the activity : “ My perspectives”. 04:00 p.m. Visit of the town of Acquaviva delle Fonti. 05:00 p.m. Meeting with the Mayor. Free time 08:00 p.m. Dinner. 21th November-Tuesday08:30 a.m. Leaving school for an educational trip to Lecce, a wonderful city in the area of Salento with several Baroque monuments and Otranto, a stronghold on the Adriatic sea with its wonderful castle. Return trip to Acquaviva by 9.00 p.m. 22nd November-Wednesday9:00 a.m. Sculpture workshop: 18 pupils, divided into groups, will be involved in laboratory activities for the realization of some handicrafts. 9:00 a.m. Art History class in English with the CLIL methodology addressed to 18 students. 9:30 a.m. teachers will attend a workshop about the CLIL methodology. 11:00 a.m. Coffee break. 11:30 a.m. Art History class in English with the CLIL methodology addressed to 18 students and teachers 11:30 a.m. Sculpture workshop: 18 pupils and teachers, divided into groups, will be involved in laboratory activities for the realization of some handicrafts. 11:30 a.m. Coordinators’ meeting 01:30 p.m. Lunch. Free afternoon 23rd November-Thursday8:30 a.m. Leaving school for an educational trip to The Trulli of Alberobello, typical Apulian homes in this characteristic town; Polignano a mare, wonderful town on the Adriatic coast and afternoon in the provincial town of Bari. Return trip by 9.00 p.m. 24th November-Friday Party Day at School. 9.00 a.m. Presentation of street games: students from each participating school will present two "street games" typical of their country. Each partner will have to present in English each game in Word format and images. The Italian partner will later work out a booklet about the European street games. 11.00 a.m. Coffee break. 11.30 a.m. Laboratory Activities: Handcraft puppets and show by Italian students, of a fairytale in English. 01.30 p.m. Lunch at school. 03.00 p.m. Dance lessons: "la pizzica" typical Apulian dance (all the students of the partnership will be involved in a dance lesson). 04.30 p.m. Karaoke: all students will play in singing performances. 06.00 p.m. Free time. 08.00 p.m. Farewell dinner 25th November-Saturday Partners’ departures. |
Summary of the activities carried out
CLIL as a Bridge to real life English: a group of 31 students (18 foreign students: 4 BG, 4 ES, 2 SK, 2 PL, 6 GR and 14 from the hosting partner - Italy) participated for 5 working days in the training session organized in Italy, which included the following activities. Arrival day: 19th November The first day: 20th November-Monday Arrival at school and welcome speech by the Headmaster with the visit of the school facilities. Each country presented a search in English concerning three main exponents of the Italian Literature, three main artists of the Italian Art and about the Italian Geography with reference to its regions and chief towns. Students and teachers participated in Workshop activities divided into groups. They took part in an educational game about the Italian Geography: each group had the task of positioning on the Italian geographical map, the regions, the capital of each region and a typical monument of the city. Lunch at school, all together, prepared by host family. In the afternoon, all the partners went to visit the town of Acquaviva and after, they had a meeting with the mayor. The second day: 21st November-Tuesday Educational trip to Lecce, a wonderful city in the area of Salento with several Baroque monuments and Otranto, a stronghold on the Adriatic Sea with its wonderful castle (with a guide who has given information about these valuable historical places or touristic attractions in English). The third day: 22nd November-Wednesday Sculpture workshop: pupils and teachers, divided into groups, have been involved in laboratory activities for the realization of some handicrafts. English lesson in Art History with the CLIL methodology addressed to students. At the same time, teachers attended a workshop about the CLIL methodology. During the day, students and teachers of the partnership have been involved, in an initiative “No Speak…” promoted by the Ministry of Education, University and Research, and carried out by our school. During “No Speak”, many students performed in musical and artistic activities. After there was a meeting between the coordinators of the project for monitoring the future deadlines for the products to be realized. Furthermore, has been carried out a review of the activities that will be realized during the meeting in Greece. In the afternoon, the students were free to give them the possibility to socialize. The fourth day: 23rd November-Thursday Educational trip to The Trulli of Alberobello, typical Apulian homes in this characteristic town; Polignano a mare, wonderful town on the Adriatic coast and in the afternoon in the provincial town of Bari (with a guide who has given information about these valuable historical places or touristic attractions in English). The fifth day: 24th November-Friday Presentation of the activity: “My perspectives”. At the end of this presentation, all the students have participated in the discussion around the reality and not of own perspectives. Presentation of street games: students from each participating school presented two "street games" typical of their country. The Italian partner will later work out a booklet about the European street games. Students and teachers, divided into groups, have been involved in laboratory activities for the realization of some handicraft puppets, and subsequently the Italian students represented a fairytale in English Language. The teachers have been interviewed by two local Televisions for the dissemination of the activities. After these activities, all the participants had a lunch at school to taste the Italian food specialties prepared by the host family. In the afternoon, all the activities are concluded with a festival at school where all the students of the partnership have been involved in a dance lesson “la Pizzica” typical Apulian dance and in singing performances: Karaoke.
